Start and end in Almaty
Burkhan-Bulak Waterfall is the highest and most beautiful waterfall in Central Asia. It's located in the Dzungarian Alatau Mountains, in the gorge of the Kora River. Its total height is 168 m (551 ft), although its highest cascade is not visible from the ground. Its visible part, consisting of three cascades, is 114 m (374 ft) high. The waterfall is situated at an altitude of 2000 m (6500 ft) above sea level.
The Burhan Bulak River, which forms the waterfall, flows down from the Karatau Mountains. At the bottom of the waterfall, it hits a massive rocky ledge and forms a cloud of spray. Even on the hottest day, there is high humidity and comfortable temperature. Fir trees and Asian juniper trees, that grow here, exude a delicate aroma.
